It looks a bit complicated to get running on Notepad++ running on Ubuntu since it is running under the Wine environment and is expecting to find Windows settings, so my review is strictly applicable to Notepad++ on Windows. There is a plugin that integrates with Tortoise Git called GitSCM. If you Google Notepad++ and Git, you'll find a lot of information on how to use Notepad++ as your default editor for Git.
